Touch-a-Truck ~ Part Two

By far the highlight of the day was the police car.

I love the look on Osten's face in this picture!

Not only did they get to sound the siren (quite a bit), they also got to talk on the microphone!

Touch-a-Truck

The Lions Club sponsored a Touch-a-Truck event yesterday that the kids and I checked out. It was quite an experience! Osten got to watch as a man lowered the bucket on a bucket truck and then he had a chance to climb in the bucket.

Both kids had a good time exploring the Bookmobile.

They also got to explore the inside of an ambulance.

And Osten got to sit in the driver's seat of a trash truck and honk the horn and raise and lower the dumpster arms on the front of the truck. It was quite an action-packed morning!

Lunch at the Office

We took Daddy lunch at the office yesterday ~ a treat the kids always enjoy!

Potty Talk, No Walk

She can talk the talk, but has yet to walk the walk. I've decided that whoever said it was easier to train girls must have only raised boys! Here she is earlier this afternoon promising me that poo-poo was coming. Well, thirty minutes and one giant pile of books later, and the only thing we had to show for our efforts was a big, red ring around Marci's bottom!

Backyard Fun

Just this week, Daddy and I started letting Osten and Marci play in the backyard by themselves. This new-found freedom has been quite a hit with them! First thing this morning, they were asking to go outside to play. I told them they had to get dressed first, and these are the outfits they selected. Well, the princess and pirate had quite a time gathering sticks, playing on the swing set and running around the backyard. I wish I had gotten a picture of them in action . . . I'm sure there will be many more similar opportunities!

Family Feud

Osten and Marci spent the afternoon with their cousins a couple of weeks ago. Boys will be boys, and well, Marci appears to be developing an appreciation of some quality girl time!

While Marci hung out inside with Mommy and Aunt Chandra, the boys had quite the battle on the back deck.

And the biggest boy won.

Ah, the agony of defeat. Better luck next time, Batman!

Look Who's Cookin'

Marci finally got her turn in the kitchen.

We made a batch of good ole-fashioned chocolate-chip cookies.

Look at all of those curls! Our baby is getting so big. I can't believe it!

Ahoy, Mateys!

There has been quite a bit of pirate activity around our house lately . . .

I love the hand on the hip! And the Batman cape and purse just make the outfits, don't you think??!!

Lamby & Parker

The kids and I went to the Teddy Bear Clinic at a local hospital last weekend with Lamby and Parker in tow, of course! Since they usually have to wait in the car, it was a special outing for them.

Osten and Marci checked them in and described their symptoms, which consisted of a "hurt head" for Lamby and a "tummy ache" for Parker.

There were TONS of stations set up with lots of fun stuff for the kids. One of our first stops was to get Lamby and Parker weighed and measured. They also had their temperatures taken and got their immunizations.

Not surprisingly, Parker has a very low BP! She and Lamby also got head bandages (with holes cut out for their ears!) and IVs. I think the kids especially enjoyed not being the patient for a change. They also had a great time in the moonbounce that was set up outside and loved seeing the hospital helicopter flying overhead. After we left the hospital, we picked up Chick-fil-A and had lunch with one hard-working Daddy who spent the better part of his Saturday at the office finishing a big project.

Oral Exam

Osten went for his first trip to the dentist today! They had all of these cool skulls in the waiting room along with a stack of kids' magazines and books. Osten was immediately impressed!

Mommy's friend, Miss Kay, gave us a tour of the Elvis bathroom before taking us back to her room. We chatted for a while, and Osten got to ride up and down in the big chair before getting down to business.

Miss Kay showed Osten all of her tools and squirted lots of water in his mouth which he thoroughly enjoyed. He just giggled and said, "Delicious!" and kept asking for more. She also introduced him to Mr. Thirsty (the water-sucker-outer thing) and Mr. Tickle (the electric toothbrush). He chose chocolate toothpaste (of course!) and sat still while she cleaned his front teeth. He wasn't such a fan of Mr. Tickle, so Miss Kay let him off the hook and took him to the treasure chest where he got to pick two prizes! He also got a Buzz Lightyear toothbrush that he thought was pretty neat. For a first visit, she said that he did great and is hopeful to be able to do a full cleaning next time! (Daddy and I decided that a first visit to the dentist was a good reason to let Lamby tag along . . . just in case!)

Dr. Folan took a look in Osten's mouth and said that his teeth look great! By the way, Miss Kay counted his teeth for him ~ he has 20!
