Good Times

The kids' old daycare had a parents night out this weekend, and it was a great chance for Osten and Marci to catch up with some of their old friends.  Osten and Billy made up for lost time with some classic silliness!

Wilkes was there, too.

Marci had lots of quality girl time while also giving her arm a rest while the boys got extra time on the playground and in the bounce houses.  When we came to pick them up, the teachers commented that she was always mindful of Osten and asked frequently about his whereabouts.  She's also getting to be quite good at coloring with her left hand.  Who knows, by the time the cast is off, she could be ambidextrous!

The Best of Days

It seems the highlight of Osten and Marci's days is playing in the front yard during the gap of time between finishing homework and eating dinner.  Lately, the majority of that time is spent playing soccer in the front yard with two pop-up goals that Grammi and FaFa gave Osten for his birthday last year.  Two neighbor boys, James and Foster, are frequeent playmates, and Osten is picking up some new soccer skills from them.  I snapped this picture just the other day right after they got through pouring cups of water over their heads and trying to spike their hair.  Marci has a good time trying to keep up with all of the boys.  None of them give it much thought that she's a girl, and for the time being, they're good about including her.  And she has a great time going toe to toe with the boys--the bigger, the better! 

One Final Hunt

And because you can never, ever have too many Easter eggs, we did one finaly hunt after church.  It was our sixth hunt of the week, and Marci had perfected her technique.  She was done in record time!

Easter Sunday Service

Easter Sunday is probably one of the best days to be a kid at our church.

All of the children process down the main aisle with flowers in their hands to place on the cross.

Osten and Marci weren't quite old enough for me to turn them loose completely this year, but they walked did all of the big stuff on their own year.  And I got to be a mere observer and take pictures, of course!

After the service, all the kids gathered in the Sunday school room for instructions from Father Sam about the annual Easter egg hunt.

Lightning Bolts ~ Part Two

Osten had his first swim meet this afternoon.  His coach had a lightning bolt tatoo ready for all of the kids on the team when we got there, and it calmed his nerves right away.

FaFa and Grammi were there to help cheer him on along with Daddy, Marci and me. 

He even posed for a quick shot before starting warmups.

And I got another quick shot before the meet started.  My goodness, when did he get so big??!!

Turning Four

As usual, we went to the neighborhood Mexican restaurant to celebrate Marci's birthday. She was so excited to get to wear the big sombrero!

Of course, we had to get a shot out back by the dumpster ~ the kids' favorite place to play!

We must have caught at least a half dozen hermit crabs in just as many trips to the marina before we finally landed a blue crab!
