Boo!

Isn't it convenient (and fun) when your Halloween mask and cape match your pajamas??!!

Osten and I took an after-dark (and after-bath) golf cart ride around the neighborhood the other night to spread some Halloween cheer, and he donned his mask and cape as a disguise in the event that our anonymous efforts were detected. Boo!

H is for . . .

Each week, Osten's class talks about a different letter of the alphabet, and all of the kids bring different items from home that begin with the letter of the week. This week's letter is "H". So, in honor of "H" as well as the upcoming Halloween holiday, we made sugar cookies in the shape of Halloween hats for his class. First, we rolled out the cookie dough . . .

. . . and Osten worked in a few military presses with the rolling pin. (He is such a boy!)

Osten did a great job sifting the sugar for the frosting.

Mommy frosted the cookies, and Osten covered them in sprinkles. I think that was his favorite part!

Taste Test

Osten couldn't wait to sample his hard work!

Marci participated in the taste test, too. She wasn't too keen on the cookies, but she loved the sprinkles!

Here's a shot of the chef (and Lamby).

Halloween Nostalgia

Osten wore this monkey suit for Halloween two years ago. Marci had been born a month earlier, and I remember being totally stressed out about not being able to make his costume as I had done the prior year. Because it was less than a week until Halloween, I just knew that the only costumes left in the stores would be absolutely dreadful. I finally stomached a trip to Marshall's, and low and behold, I found the cutest monkey costume in just his size! Two years later, and it's still our favorite. I pulled it out of the attic earlier this week, and Daddy was so excited to see if Osten could still wear it.

Meanwhile, there's not much else that Marci wants to wear other than her new nightgown. She cried and cried the other morning when I refused to let her wear it to school! Check out her feet-crossed-at-the-ankles sassiness in this picture. I love it!

Once a monkey, always a monkey! Osten entertained us all morning in his costume.

Where's his air guitar??!!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

We braved the nearly unbearable heat today and pretended it was fall. We took the kids to a fall festival near our old house.

Osten ran all over the place and reportedly set a new record for number of times down the blow-up slide. Meanwhile, Marci spent some quality time in my lap with a bag of popcorn. (Love it!)

Look at the little sister perusing the festival grounds with her sippy in tow.

Strike a pose!

Sliding Into Fall

And here he is . . . sliding into fall and growing up before our very eyes! As we watched him slide down this slide over and over and over again, Daddy and I were reminiscing about his very first trip down one of these slides at Hamilton's birthday party. He couldn't make it up the ladder without help.

And now here he is sliding down sideways . . .

. . . and having a ball as Daddy and I watch!
