Mommy-and-Me Shopping Spree

Sometimes on Saturdays when the energy level gets especially high, Daddy and I decide to divide and conquer. Yesterday was one of those Saturdays. Daddy and Marci went to the grocery store, and Osten and I headed to the soft play at the mall. The sky had the appearance of impending rain, so we left the car under the covered parking at JC Penney's.

As we were making it through the store, I got a wild hair and decided that we'd try our luck at a little shopping. We made a beeline to the kids' section. Some marketing genius came up with the brilliant idea to package coordinating toys and t-shirts. Osten got hooked on a Spiderman shirt/car, and it was just the inspiration he needed for an impromptu Mommy-and-me shopping spree! His attention was also held by a Lego Batman shirt and Lego Darth Vader shirt that he picked out. He even helped me search through a table of folded shirts to look for the number "4" on a few other sports-related shirts that he liked in his size.

After we accumulated about an armful of shirts, I asked him to follow me over to the pants section. He was shopped out at that point, and tried to dissuade me by saying that he didn't need any pants. Au contraire! We found a well-stocked pants table and picked out six pairs in less than five minutes, plus four pairs of pants for Marci. (Not bad!)

We paid for our purchases and headed to the soft play as promised. Osten talked nearly nonstop about his new Spiderman shirt and wanted to know how soon he'd be able to wear it. Suffice it to say that we did a shirt swap as soon as we got to the soft play!

So 15 minutes for a good start on a fall wardrobe plus 45 minutes of play time equals a successful and fun Saturday afternoon. At Osten's request, we celebrated with a lemonade from the Chick-fil-A drivethru and went home to help Daddy and Marci with dinner.
